Steps in Applying For Financial Aid

After completing the College of Law application and before receiving notification of acceptance, students should apply for financial aid:

  • Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form is available at undergraduate institutions. It can also be obtained from the University's Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) or from the College of Law.

  • Make certain to include the University's "Federal School Code". Our code is 001775 and the OSFA's address is 620 East John Street, Champaign, Illinois 61820.

  • Mail the form directly to the U.S. Department of Education's federal processor in the envelope provided as soon as possible after January 1 and before March 15.

Tips

  • Keep a copy of the tax records and any supporting documents used to complete the applications.
  • Keep copies of the applications.
  • If income figures from tax returns will not be ready until after March 15, estimate income, complete and mail
