College of Law sees second consecutive Record-breaking Application Year
The 232-member Class of 2012 enters the College of Law with a median LSAT score of 166 and a median GPA of 3.8. This talented and diverse class hails from 33 states, four foreign countries (Canada, China, Korea, Taiwan), and 121 undergraduate institutions, with 49% of the students from the state of Illinois. Along with a staggering accumulation of Dean’s List and academic honors, the Class of 2012 includes CEOs and opera singers, poets and archeologists, war heroes and three-sport varsity athletes, Girl Scout gold award recipients and Eagle Scouts. The Class also includes students who have worked in the White House, the House of Commons, the U.S. Embassy in Budapest, and the National Security Agency, along with teachers, CPAs, and professional musicians, singers, and actors. There are other unique life backgrounds among the Class of 2012, including pond artist, professional poker player, disc jockey, and an anthropologist researching the medicinal use of plants consumed by lemurs in Madagascar. There are students who have been investigative reporters, Teach for America volunteers working with underprivileged children, and volunteers working with female prison inmates. In addition, there are 82 LL.M. students enrolled from 14 countries, including Argentina, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, India, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and Thailand.
