Travis McDade

Assistant Professor of Library Administration
Rare Book and Reference Librarian

Professor McDade received his JD from Case Western Reserve University and his MSLIS from the University of Illinois. Aside from teaching Legal Research at the College of Law and Legal Resources at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, he researches and writes in the area of rare book crime and punishment. His book on the subject, The Book Thief, is the first to deal with the recognition of books as cultural objects whose value cannot be adequately captured by market price. He continues to write about the subject on his blog, Upward Departure.

Professor McDade first came to the Jenner Law Library in the fall of 2001 as a graduate assistant. He has been working here full time since the fall of 2004 after working at the Moritz College of Law at Ohio State University.
