The University of Illinois College of Law Visiting Scholars program provides an opportunity for qualified individuals to conduct independent research in a law school setting. College of Law Visiting Scholars fall into three categories (Judicial Fellows, Senior Research Fellows, and Junior Research Fellows) and are expected to be active members of the College community during their stay. Visits can be for any duration although a minimum of four months is recommended. All Visiting Scholar applications will be evaluated based on space availability, access to research materials to support the proposed project, and faculty interest.
Visiting Scholars have access to the College of Law's facilities and are provided with a semi-private work space with a desk, file storage, local telephone service, and access to printer capabilities within the Law Building. All Visiting Scholars are eligible to audit classes subject to space availability and permission of the instructor.
In addition to the specific requirements outlined below, each Visiting Scholar application must include a description of the research to be undertaken while at the College of Law, a curriculum vitae, and the period for the proposed visit.
