Professor John G. Bisbikis is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Chicago office. Professor Bisbikis is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department and concentrates his practice in the areas of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets. Professor Bisbikis has significant litigation experience and has helped clients obtain favorable results in federal courts throughout the country. He has been involved in cases in a variety of industries and technologies, including financial services and transaction card processing, ink jet cartridges, interactive television systems, medical devices, pneumatic engines for model airplanes, plastic bottles and gaming devices. In addition, Professor Bisbikis has an active intellectual property procurement and counseling practice. He has conducted intellectual property audits for international companies, performed patent infringement and validity analysis for major U.S. companies, managed international patent and trademark portfolios, and has prosecuted patent applications in a wide range of technologies. Professor Bisbikis received his J.D. in 1992 from the University of Illinois College of Law. He also received his bachelor's degree in General Engineering from the University of Illinois in 1988. He is a member of the Illinois bar, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois, Central District of Illinois, Eastern District of Wisconsin and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
