The twin cities of Champaign-Urbana are home to the University of Illinois.
The natural beauty of the area frames our vibrant community — rich with the cultural
resources of a large metropolitan town, but retaining the charm, safety, and
affordability of classic Midwestern living.
With a population of 100,000, Champaign-Urbana boasts a wide range of ethnic
restaurants, specialty stores, coffee houses, clubs and live music venues,
movie theaters, athletic facilities, galleries, and bookstores. Housing,
entertainment, and living expenses are comparatively low. There are miles of
bicycle paths and an award-winning local transit service — free to students.
A major center for the arts, the campus attracts dozens of nationally and internationally
renowned artists each year to its widely acclaimed Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.
The University also supports two major museums: the Krannert Art Museum and Kinkead Pavilion;
and the Spurlock Museum of world history and culture.
Plus, you can experience Big Ten Conference action in nine men's and 10 women's sports.
Campus recreation facilities include playing fields and gyms; an ice arena; basketball,
tennis, squash, volleyball, and racquetball courts; swimming pools; indoor running tracks,
weight rooms; two 18-hole championship golf courses, and an in-line skating rink.
Bowling and billiards are available at the Illini Union.
Nearby is the University's Allerton Park, a National Natural Landmark featuring flood-plain
forests, beautiful flower gardens, and an outstanding collection of statuary from Asia and Europe.
Chicago, Indianapolis, and St. Louis are all less than three hours away by car. Commercial
airline service is also locally available to destinations throughout the world. Locally
available train travel offers numerous options for domestic travel.
You can tell a lot about a
law school by visiting when classes are in session. The environment, how faculty
interact with students, the quality of facilities and resources — important
factors in determining how you’ll enjoy your time here as a student.
We invite you to visit at any time. You can also access photos of various
areas of the building at the Virtual Tour page
included in this section of the web site.
Backed by the world-class reputation of the University

completed in 2006. The Law Building is an all-inclusive learning environment
with dining facilities (including a Starbucks coffee station), a bookstore,
and student lounge/study areas, as well as a computer lab. You’ll find
more than 1,000 data ports in classrooms and throughout the building,
plus wireless access in the Library.
The Albert E. Jenner, Jr. Memorial Law Library
includes 750,000 volumes, access to thousands of electronic legal information
sources, and library professionals with both law and library science degrees.
Ranked as the nation's 14th largest academic law library, it is also one of
the few American law libraries designated as a depository by the European
Economic Community.
