Founded in 1897, the College of Law was a charter
member of the Association of American Law Schools. Today, it is a nationally ranked
leader in legal education, with faculty members among the country's top legal scholars.
Its diverse group of 675 students represents 32 states, three countries, and 173
undergraduate institutions. They will join nearly 9,000 successful alumni who
practice in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and numerous countries
around the world. We appreciate your interest in the College of Law, and in the
University of Illinois, an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer.
Located on the University of Illinois campus at Urbana-Champaign, the College of Law
is just two hours from Chicago and Indianapolis, and three hours from St. Louis. In
addition to its heralded reputation as one of the top research universities in the country,
the campus boasts the nation's most comprehensive performing arts center,
numerous museums
and galleries, outstanding fitness facilities, and Big Ten conference sporting events.
The community offers a wide range of ethnic restaurants, specialty stores, coffee houses,
jazz and blues venues, bookstores, and summer farmers' markets. Residents concur that Champaign-Urbana is rich with the resources of a large metropolitan city, but retains
the charm and affordability of classic Midwestern living.
