Albert J. Harno Society
The Albert J. Harno Society is named after Dean Albert J. Harno, the 6th Dean of the College of Law, and a man who left an indelible imprint on this institution. Albert Harno served as Dean of the College from 1922 to 1957, guiding the College through fascinating times including the Depression, a World War, and the construction of our current law facility.
Dean Harno’s tenure at Illinois – as a Professor, Dean, and the Provost – is a legacy which will live on at the University of Illinois forever.
The Albert J. Harno Society recognizes those thoughtful and generous alumni and friends, for their foresight and philanthropic spirit when they chose to create an enduring legacy for the long-term welfare of the College.
Requisites for Membership
It is our privilege to recognize as members of the Albert J. Harno Society those extraordinary alumni, parents, and friends who have chosen to remember the University of Illinois College of Law by providing gifts through life income arrangements.
The following are examples of Harno Society giving arrangements:
- A bequest or testamentary trust provision;
- A charitable remainder trust, charitable lead trust, charitable gift annuity, or retained life estate;
- A life insurance policy (non-term); and
- A retirement account (IRA, 401(k), 403(b), etc).
Membership in the Albert J. Harno Society involves no dues or obligations of any kind, and membership information will never be shared with other organizations. The dollar amount of your gift will never be associated with this Society. Members will be recognized annually in the Illinois Jurist. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous may elect to do so.
Life income and estate gifts are important ways of directing future support to the University of Illinois. If you have made a gift to the College that you think qualifies you for membership in the Albert J.
