Only 12% of the law school's funding comes from the State of Illinois
The College of Law is state supported but it is not state funded. This was true at the time we were students, but the amount of support from the State of Illinois has dropped dramatically over the past 40 years. Today, only 12% of the College of Law's funding comes from the state. That's where we come in...private and non-state funding sources!

The '66 Scholars Fund is a unique way to give back to your alma mater! The University of Illinois College of Law provided each of us with the rigorous academic training necessary to succeed in the legal profession. Each of us has a unique life story, whether we have entered private practice, public service, or use our law degree in business or another unique enterprise. But we are all bound together in that 40 years ago, we earned our law degrees from the University of Illinois College of Law.
We are fortunate to have a unique way to help our alma mater regain its financial footing and fund its ambitious ascendancy. The University Provost has agreed to match any gift of $150,000 or greater provided the pledges are met within three years and the money is used for student scholarships. A group of our classmates decided to take advantage of this opportunity to mark the 40th year reunion and thus, the '66 Scholars Fund was formed. Our goal is to raise $150,000, qualifying for the Provost's matching program, to provide $14,500 annually for student scholarship assistance.

Watch here for exciting Class of 1966 Reunion information!
The Development and Alumni Relations Office will be hosting a full weekend of activities surrounding the 97th annual Homecoming at the University of Illinois October 25-27, 2007. Among the activities are the annual DLA Piper Vacketta Lecture on Thursday, October 25 on the Role of Government and the Law, a popular event created by an endowed gift by Carl Vacketta '65 that has featured speakers such as U.S. Rep. Dick Armey, Sen. George Mitchell, and Gov. Jim Blanchard. On Friday, October 26, the College will host an elegant evening Alumni Reception at a local country club leading up to the pre-game tailgate party on Saturday, October 27, located on Cribbet Field just east of the Law Building. Coach Ron Zook's Fighting Illini football team hosts Ball State at Memorial Stadium with an 11 a.m. kickoff.
Other events surrounding our 40th anniversary are also being planned and your input, leadership, and planning expertise are certainly welcome.
