The '82 Scholars Fund is a unique and unprecedented opportunity for members of the University of Illinois College of Law Class of 1982 to join together to create a unique scholarship fund. The '82 Scholars Fund began with three of our classmates pledging to donate $ 35,000 each over three years. They reached out to a handful of additional classmates and three of them each pledged $ 35,000 and a few other classmates pledged much-appreciated lesser amounts.
The University Provost has agreed to match any gift — individual or group — in excess of $ 150,000 for student scholarships and raised over a three-year period. The goal is to ask Class of 1982 graduates to make a three-year pledge toward the $ 500,000 goal. With the Provost's match, the overall goal of $ 1,000,000 in the '82 Scholars Fund will allow the College to provide two full-tuition or a combination of full and partial tuition scholarships to future students. This scholarship fund will provide an exceptional opportunity for Illinois to recruit head-to-head with the nation's premier law schools for the best and brightest students.
The '67 Scholarship Fund is a unique way to give back to your alma mater! The University of Illinois College of Law provided each of us with the rigorous academic training necessary to succeed in the legal profession. Each of us has a unique life story built over the last 40 years, whether we have entered private practice, public service, or use our law degree in business or another unique enterprise. Regardless of our chosen profession or where we live, we are all bound together in that we earned our law degrees from the University of Illinois College of Law.
We are fortunate to have a unique way to help our alma mater regain its financial footing and fund its ambitious ascendancy. The University Provost has agreed to match any gift of $150,000 or greater provided the pledges are met within three years and the money is used for student scholarships. A group of our classmates decided to take advantage of this opportunity to mark the 40th year reunion and thus, the '67 Scholarship Fund was formed.
