What type of admission process do you have?
The LL.M. program offers rolling admissions, beginning in March until the program is full.
What is your TOEFL or IELTS requirement and code?
You must take either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
or International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The minimum
TOEFL score is 79 internet-based and must be taken within 2 years of
program term of entry (August). The University of Illinois College of Law's
Institutional Code is 1836 with department 00 and should be used in reporting your TOEFL score.
The minimum IELTS score is 6.5 with subscores of 6 on all four modules.
Are admission deferrals granted?
Typically, you may delay your program for one year, but deferrals are granted on a
case by case basis. Historically, the Committee has granted a deferral for compelling reasons,
such as the inability to secure a visa or financial hardship.
Do you require the LSAT or LSDAS?
No.
How many letters of reference do you require?
We require three letters of reference.

No.
How do I apply online for housing?
In order to apply online for housing, you must have your UIN (University of Illinois Number).
Once you have that number, you should go to www.housing.uiuc.edu/apply/
Is an introductory Legal English course available?
Yes, the College offers a three-week certficate program to introduce LLM students to the language,
culture and study of law in the United States. For complete details, please see
the Legal English page.
How can I pay my tuition and fees?
You may use one of the following methods: check, cash, debit card or credit card.
The University only accepts credit card payments via
the web, using American Express, Mastercard, and Discover. This
service is available for students and authorized individuals.
A 2% convenience fee will be added to the total payment
amount when this online option is used. You can make
payment at www.usfsco.uillinois.edu/Billing.html
When will I get my I-20?
Once your file has been approved for final admission, your I-20 will be issued
by the University of Illinois Graduate Admissions Office. It will be sent
to the address you provide on the Verification Form. This Verification Form will
be included with your offer of admission letter issued by the College of Law's
Office of Graduate and International Legal Studies. This process could take up
to six weeks to complete.
