Law 793: Advanced Trial Advocacy: Intellectual Property

This three-hour course meets intensively during spring break, and teaches trial advocacy skills within the context of various intellectual property areas. The course uses fact patterns derived from real cases that have been litigated in court. Although some topics are presented through lecture, discussion, and demonstration, the primary teaching method is student participation with instructor critique. Submission of some written materials may be required. There is no final exam; students receive letter grades based on their performance throughout the course. Students should expect to devote substantially all of their spring break to this course. The course will meet every day (including Sunday) of break. Meetings on most days will run from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m., with a break for lunch. The course will also demand substantial preparation outside of class, and students will be expected to read course materials before the course begins. Enrollment is limited to 12 students.

Sequence and Prerequisites: Evidence (Law 682) is a prerequisite; concurrent enrollment Trial Advocacy (Law 694) is required.
