Law 798: Law and the Human Sciences

This course explores selected topics on the relationship between law and the human sciences (psychology, psychiatry, cognitive neuroscience, etc.) from the nineteenth century to the present.  The class we be organized around three primary subjects:   Memory, Evidence, and Volition.   Specific topics will include forensic psychology, lie detection, hypnotically refreshed testimony, the memory wars, confessions, visual evidence, and functional magnetic resonance imaging.  A research paper is required.  This course can be used to fulfill the upper-level writing requirement.
