Law 796: International and Comparative Freedom of Expression
This seminar will examine civil liberties involving freedom of expression from a global, international, and comparative perspective. United States' First Amendment law will be examined and compared to the law of other nations and to public international law standards. The seminar will examine the nature and level of the freedoms afforded, and the problems of censorship, restraints, and oppression. The seminar will invite discussion of specific problems and will examine legal and public policy solutions from a cross-cultural, national, and transnational perspective. *This seminar will provide the opportunity to satisfy all or part of the upper division writing requirement.
