This course will examine, from a comparative legal and economic perspective, the competition (or antitrust) laws of countries with mature, developed economies. The course will survey the competition laws and remedial structures in place in the United States, the European Union and other countries, and will devote sustained attention to a series of topics such as restrictions on mergers, horizontal agreements, and vertical agreements, with particular emphasis on comparison of US and EU law.
