Law 597: Interdisciplinary Legal Research

This course is an advanced research class in which students write a substantial research paper focusing on interdisciplinary problems. Students interested in a particular area of study will take at least one law class and one “paired” non-law class as a prerequisite. Some examples might include: Elder Law and a course in gerontology; Environmental Law and a course in technical preparation of environmental impact statements; Labor Law and labor history; Antitrust Law and industrial organization economics; International Law and international relations. Interested students will then propose an independent research project to be jointly supervised by both a law professor and a professor in the other discipline.

Sequence and Prerequisites: Course requires approvals by the Associate Dean. Students must fill out a form available from the Associate Dean. The “paired” course requirement may be waived by the Associate Dean in exceptional circumstances.
