Law 795: History of Anglo-American Criminal Procedure

This course examines selected topics in the history of Anglo-American criminal procedure from the medieval era through the modern age. Topics to be studied include: Medieval modes of proof, the origins and development of criminal jury trial, the rise of procedural protections in cases of serious crime, the history of criminal sanctions, and criminal justice administration during the Progressive Era. A research paper is required.
