Law 793: International Civil Litigation

International Civil Litigation will examine the many rules that govern access to courts of the United States and other countries when disputes extend across national boundaries. Issues relating to subject matter and personal jurisdiction as well as the enforcement of judgments and arbitration awards will occupy much of the semester, along with questions of choice of law, or what other countries sometimes refer to as jurisdiction to prescribe. The course may also examine litigation under the foreign sovereign immunity act.
